What do I need to do to my pool in the winter?

Prior to freezing you should drain the filter system completely of all water as to prevent freezing. Remove all hoses from the pool. The return line may require a threaded plug on the inside of the pool to prevent accessive draining of water. You can also drain the water level down below the skimmer to help prevent the skimmer from freezing and breaking. Removing the hose from the skimmer can allow any additional melted snow or rain water to drain out of the pool onto the ground. Care should be taken to prevent excessive water run-off.
