To cut your cover: first, lay it on the pool (bubble side down) and let it rest for a few hours to relax any folds or creases. Then trace the shape of your pool with a marker and use sharp scissors or a utility knife to trim. Start by cutting less than you think you need you can always remove more material, but you cannot add it back. For pools with steps or separate areas, many owners cut the cover into two or more sections for easier handling. Warranties cover manufacturing defects (such as delamination or bubbles separating from the base layer), not cuts made for sizing.

Bubbles always go DOWN, toward the water. This is the single most commonly asked question about solar pool covers, and the answer is consistent across every manufacturer and pool expert. The bubbles are air pockets that act like tiny greenhouses they absorb heat from the sun, trap it, and transfer it directly into the pool water through conduction.
