evaporation\u00a0accounts for a whopping 70% of the\u00a0energy consumed by\u00a0an indoor pool, according to the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE).\u00a0\u00a0With evaporation left unchecked, other problems arise such as excess chemical consumption,\u00a0an overabundance of humidity, and building maintenance\u00a0problems related to humidity.\u00a0<\/p>\n<p>Dealing with the\u00a0humidity\u00a0from\u00a0an indoor pool means installing a ventilation\u00a0system that replaces indoor air with unconditioned air from outside.\u00a0 The cost of running such a ventilation system to keep humidity at bay can be steep.\u00a0 But all of the problems associated with water evaporation from an indoor pool can be significantly reduced with the use of pool covers.<\/p>\n<p><a title=\"Swimming Pool Covers\" href=\"https:\/\/www.backyardcitypools.com\/Pool-Covers-Swimming-Pools.htm\" target=\"_blank\">Pool covers<\/a> reduce evaporation dramatically, and as a result, energy costs can be lowered by as much as 70%, according to the\u00a0DOE.\u00a0 Additionally, pool covers keep chemical consumption\u00a0at a minimum, and humidity levels are kept in check.\u00a0 Lower humidity levels reduce the need to ventilate the air, which decreases energy costs even further.<\/p>\n<p>Use pool covers only when the pool is not in use.\u00a0 Pool covers should be removed from a
