Can algae grow behind or under my wedding cake pool steps?
Yes, it is possible. Even though these steps have perforated holes designed to allow better chemical circulation and reduce any algae buildup, the steps still have dead zones of lower water flow that form behind and underneath the steps where algae takes hold. Of course keeping the water treated correctly will always minimize the chance for algae to grow.
Some suggest taking a turkey baster or squeeze bottle and filling it with liquid or dissolved chlorine and squirting it behind and through the circulation holes at least once a week especially during the warmer months.

It is strongly recommended that the pool steps be removed from the pool water during the winter months especially if there is any chance of water freezing. Freezing water can damage the pool steps.

How hard is assembly of Wedding Cake Steps, and what tools do I need?
Its pretty easy. We have found that it takes a simple screwdriver and one person can assemble it in about 15-30 mins. The steps ship nested inside each other in one box, which keeps shipping costs down. Assembly involves connecting the step sections, attaching the handrail, and if you have a deck, securing the bracket flanges to it.
Some of the pre-drilled ventilation (circulation) holes seem to have a thin piece of plastic film over them. These can be cleared with screwdriver, or a small drill bit or a box cutter faily easily.

Yes - the liner pad is included in the box. The NE110WH comes with a 4-ft x 5-ft deluxe step/liner pad at no extra cost. Its purpose is to sit between the bottom of the steps and your pool liner to prevent friction and chafing. Without it, the rigid plastic base of the steps can rub against and eventually wear through or damage your vinyl liner, especially with daily use. The pad acts as a protective cushion.between the base of the pool steps and the vinyl liner floor. You do not need to buy separately.

What size and type of pool can the wedding cake be used? Do I need a deck?
The NE110WH and NE110BL wedding cake steps are designed for above ground pools with flat bottoms with walls up to 54 inches tall. It does NOT work with inflatable pools, soft-sided pools, or in-ground pools. There is no minimum pool diameter requirement stated, but we recommend at least a 12ft diameter pool or larger will accommodate its larger footprint better.
A deck is not strictly required to use the steps, but it is required to use the included mounting brackets as intended. Without a deck, you are relying on weight (usually pea gravel and added by the owner) inside the steps to keep them stable.
